Description
Abstract 
                            This layer encompasses those areas of Island County that have tax authority. It includes the assigned tax code and junior taxing districts. Those districts include emergency services, fire, parks and recreation, port, cemetery, school, and water & sewer. Last update 2/10/2016
Purpose 
                            This layer is used frequently by many departments to outline junior taxing districs. Some attributes are utilized more frequently than others. The layer is used for map reference, cartography, and answering public requests. This feature class is derived from the parcel layer; therefore it is accurate to the level of the parcels.

Process Description 
                                City boundaries from Oak Harbor were obtained from the city. Those boundary changes that concerned road ownership were updated. The feature class was then checked for topology errors.

Distribution Liability 
                        Assessor's disclaimer - These maps were created from available public records and existing map sources, and from different surveyors and their surveys. Map features from all sources have been adjusted to achieve a ‘best fit’ registration to the Ownership parcels. While great care was taken in this process, maps from different sources rarely agree as to the precise location of geographic features. The relative positioning of map features to one another results from combining different map sources without field ‘ground truthing’.
