File Geodatabase Feature Class
This feature class is comprised of the compilation of the Diking and Drainage districts in Island County. It contains the name of each Drainage or District name along with notes about each digitized boundary source. It is utilized infrequently by the Assessor’s, Planning, Public Works, and the Health Departments. This version is updated as of 5/20/14
This layer was derived from parcels, therefore, it is accurate to the parcel level. This layer is difficult to maintain due to the frequent change in district commissioners. The commissioner brings a list of Drainage parcels to be levied and this usually gets cleaned up in PACS, however records are spotty. It is expected to be utilized by several county departments. Specific uses include as a map reference, utility assessments, planning, permitting, cartography, public requests etc.

Data were collected using methods that are accurate to the Island County Parcel layer - as data was compiled at the parcel level
Diking and drainage district boundaries as drawn with the best available data. Work started from Matt Nash's created layer then verified through Assessor's Office files. The source of data is included per feature as it varies. Boundaries should be updated as data is given to the elections office and then updated through the assessor's office.

Assessor's disclaimer - These maps were created from available public records and existing map sources, and from different surveyors and their surveys. Map features from all sources have been adjusted to achieve a ‘best fit’ registration to the Ownership parcels. While great care was taken in this process, maps from different sources rarely agree as to the precise location of geographic features. The relative positioning of map features to one another results from combining different map sources without field ‘ground truthing’.
